.As part of its community service, the housing development corporation of Taman Desa Rahmat began offering Al-Quran classes at Masjid Al Khairiah, the mosque in the housing estate, in 1993. With the assistance of Allahyarham Ustaz Hilmy al-hafiz, this class grows into a Tahfiz Al-Quran school for kids in 1994. The accepted students are mostly orphaned [boys] from all around Kelantan.
The Tahfiz Al-Quran Center, which is a part of PEYATIM- Pertubuhan Kebajikan Anak Yatim Malaysia, officially became PEKAYATIM in 1996. As a complete orphanage for boys, PEKAYATIM currently offers care for the orphans, Tahfiz al-Quran instruction, and assistance in securing admission to Islamic programmes at surrounding higher education institutions.
However, because of its limited resources and dependence on public money, the Tahfiz centre can only now accept up to 30 orphans. As a result, they are currently unable to accept girls. To make sure the orphans accepted are dedicated to studying Tahfiz al-Quran and making it their chosen stream in universities, tough interviews are done..
Only orphan boys between the ages of 10 and 22 are accepted to PEKAYATIM, where they will spend the following two years learning about the Quran and preparing for the tests that would allow them to continue their education. There have been 12 graduates from the institution..
For your information, we offer free services here to any orphan children as well as to the poor from any nation.
Even though there are only 32 of them, their monthly costs for living expenses, accommodation, clothing, staff salaries, business expenses, and other costs can still top thousand. We gratefully accept donations of any type for the local orphan children. We hope to one day have our own building so that more children can be educated as hafiz-hafiz of the Qur'an and come here to increase their knowledge around the world..
